WIRED AND FREE is a multimedia aerial spectacle that unfolds high above the audience with performers suspended from a crane, flying 40 metres above the ground. A fisherman and his fishing boat is seen rowing across the clear night sky, when a singing mermaid mesmerizes his senses. Then suddenly, three female flying sea urchins swoop over the audiences heads and fly upwards to capture the poor fisherman from his boat. What will become of him?
This is a family show suitable for all ages with a simple, non-text based narrative. Wired & Free incorporates aerial choreography, film and animation. The soundtrack has been specially composed by Mad Jym from Loop Guru (the godfathers of world music) and features live singing from either world music star Natacha Atlas or Tamarind, an American singer who has worked with Talvin Singh.
"This piece had the children and adults in the sizable crowd transfixed neck straining skywards. A beautiful choreographed piece graceful and awesome, Ballyshannon has never seen anything like it." Colin Regan- Donegal News
Choreographed by Chantal McCormick and Fidget Feet cast
Music and film by Jym Daly
Rigging and making of aerial structures by High Performance Rigging
Costumes - April Pressley

"The show had a real theatrical charm the boat image was in itself quite magical but the way the fisherman character was played had a real humour and gave the piece a distinctive Irish charm. The development of the show was innovative in many ways; the crane being used for several different purposes in the one piece unlike other ‘crane’ shows where it is used for a single use. The flying sequence for the three sea urchins was fantastically visual and likewise the final mobile with the beautiful flying fabric ‘tails’. The music was always atmospheric..."
